Clerical Assistant Open Filing Dates and Introduction of Computer-Based Testing

The filing period for examinations Clerical Assistant 55-813 (Promotional) and Clerical Assistant 45-413 (Open-Competitive) is open now and closes Tuesday, July 2, 2019.

The Clerical Assistant (JG-12) title will be replacing the Senior Court Office Assistant (JG-12) and Senior Court Office Assistant - Keyboarding* (JG-12) titles. Until the new Clerical Assistant lists are established, the current Senior Court Office Assistant list will be used to fill any clerical vacancies.

The Clerical Assistant (JG-12) title is one of three new competitive titles.

Supervising Clerical Assistant I (JG-16) is replacing Supervising Court Office Assistant (JG-16). Supervising Clerical Assistant II (JG-18) is a brand new title.

Applications must be made online at the UCS website. An application is considered filed only upon receipt of an Application ID Number which you receive immediately after clicking "Submit" at the end of the electronic application. If you do not receive an Application ID Number after clicking "Submit," your application was not filed.

Applicants will receive an email on or about July 9, 2019 with a PSI Test Center scheduling link to self-schedule an examination date. This email will come from the email address: The deadline to self-schedule an examination will be  August 9, 2019. Scheduling will be on a first come, first served basis. Specific dates, times, and test centers will not be guaranteed.

The examinations will be administered from July 16, 2019 to August 18, 2019 at PSI Test Centers throughout New York State. The examinations will be computer-based, multiple-choice.

The Promotional list will be used to make appointments before appointments are made from the list established from the Open-Competitive examination.
