President's Message
April 15, 2022

I would like to thank you the membership for having the confidence in me to lead the union for the next two years. I am honored and proud to lead this great organization. Congratulations to Robert Abarno reelected COBANC Treasurer for another term. Next week ballots will be mailed out for the offices of Vice-President,Vice-President, and Secretary.

Healthplex recently had an employee fall victim to an email phishing attack. Healthplex is required by the FTC to state all the types of information that can potentially be exposed. Healthplex will be sending out a letter to all impacted members. The letter states the type of personal information that may have been exposed.  Please be aware that not all personal information pertains to COBANC members. Healthplex intentionally utilizes alternate IDs in place of Social Security Numbers to safeguard your personal information.  The letter also states that banking and credit card information, along with your Driver’s License Number, may have been obtained, but this does also not apply to COBANC members.  Personal information that may have potentially been obtained is your name, address, date of birth, Healthplex web portal information, and benefits history.

Additionally, Healthplex is offering you free “LifeLock® Identity Theft Protection Services,” which proactively protects your personal and financial information and provides comprehensive recovery services if you become a victim of identity theft during your LifeLock membership. Details of your complimentary membership will be enclosed along with instructions for registering for this service.

Healthplex takes this matter very seriously and is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your personal information. They are reinforcing their existing policies and practices with employees and will continue to evaluate additional safeguards to help prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future. We deeply regret any inconvenience or concern caused by this incident.

On the COVID testing and vaccination mandates handed down by the Office of Court Administration (OCA) without bargaining over the changes of employment. The hearings have concluded with the Public Employment Relations Board (PERB). The unions will be submitting briefs and a decision will be issued thereafter.

In Unity,

Peter Piciulo

President
